Art and Science are often kept in separate camps, but when they are allowed to mingle, an incredible alchemy can result! And if you are a scientist who doesn’t think you have a creative bone in your body, spoiler alert – YOU DO!
This workshop by the Ocean Media Institute and led by professional science communicators and multi-media artists, Gianna Savoie and Elizabeth Vanderburg, is an opportunity for researchers at any level of their career to come together in a safe, fun and welcoming environment to share their work, unlock their creativity, and learn to communicate their science better (and artfully) so that it resonates with the public. Exploring science communication and visual storytelling devices through painting, writing and collage, participants will engage in a variety of exercises to flex the creative muscle and produce a finished piece of artwork that sings to the story of their science and celebrates the meaning of their work.
BOOKING ESSENTIAL - Participants do NOT need to have any artistic training or background.
