Careers in Space: Women Shaping Aotearoa’s Future in STEM
Space is no longer the final frontier – it’s a growing career pathway right here in Aotearoa. Join us for an evening of conversation and inspiration with women breaking new ground in space science, technology, and engineering. Hear how they got their start, what drives their curiosity, and why the future of space must be inclusive, bold, and imaginative.

Whether you're dreaming of working with satellites, space data, or science outreach, this is your chance to ask questions and connect with the people who leading the way.

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Michelle Thaller, recently retired from NASA after 27 years, most recently as Assistant Director of Science at the Goddard Space Flight Centre. Known for her appearances on How the Universe Works, NOVA, and NASA’s live broadcasts – including the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope – Michelle is an award-winning science communicator with a passion for sharing the beauty and relevance of the cosmos in our everyday lives.

Alongside Michelle, you’ll hear from inspiring women across New Zealand’s space sector, each with their own story of how they launched their careers in space and science.

Co-hosted by Thirst for Knowledge and Women in Space Aotearoa New Zealand. Come along, grab a drink, and let your curiosity take flight!

Come for the cosmos, stay for the kōrero.
