Kiwi Kai – Digital Learning Teachers’ Workshop

At this workshop, have a go with Kiwi Kai, an engaging new online learning tool co-designed with Manaaki Whenua and Year 5-8 students in Ōtepoti schools, that explores how a healthy environment nurtures healthy food and healthy people.

The tool content integrates mana ōrite me te mātauranga Māori with science and literacy in the New Zealand curriculum to aid students in making informed decisions for sustainable action and to reflect on the environmental and cultural uniqueness of Aotearoa. It encourages students to explore concepts and consequences from multiple perspectives while developing comprehension skills such as reorganisation, inference and evaluation while using and critiquing evidence, critical thinking, problem solving and systems thinking.

The workshop, sponsored by the BioHeritage National Science Challenge, will be facilitated by Davina Hunt and students.

Please note that the 4 July event will be held in person at Carisbrook School, while the 6 July event will be online.
